Water confidence session.
March 1 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This is a very important session to attend.
We need to know, that you know, what to do in the event that you should find yourself or others in the water.
It’s our annual pool session at Kendal Sports Centre for a fun hour-long session.
The emphasis is to have fun while learning how to help yourself and others when in water.
We have not capsized with members on board in12 seasons and I think this is a really good indication of the level of training and safety procedures that we adhere to. One of which is to hold this pool session.
If you cannot enter the pool on the day, we ask that you have a go at throwing lines from the side and watch and listen to the training.
It is a chance to:
- see what it is like to swim with a buoyancy aid on
- try some techniques for looking after each other in the water
- throw a safety line to folk in the water and retrieve them to the side
You do not have to be a swimmer, we adapt to your ability and comfort in water, making sure folk are not scared or feeling under pressure.
You do not have to be out of your depth at any time.
The session will be delivered by a qualified trainer and supported by experienced members.
- your PFL buoyance aid if you have one – we will have some there for you to borrow
- goggles if you prefer
- a towel and shower stuff.
- a couple of plastic bags for wet things.
- We will bring the throw lines, paddles and spare buoyance aids.
So, come on in, the water’s fine!
If you want to ask any questions about the session, please feel free to contact Roz on firstname.lastname@example.org.
