Lancaster Canal Challenge
Lancaster Canal Challenge
Two fantastic crews of paddlers formed from cancer survivors and their supporters from Paddlers for Life Windermere paddled their dragon boat, Artemis Phyllis’ thirty one miles along the Lancaster Canal from Owd Nell’s at Bilsborow to the northernmost navigable point at Tewitfield.

A team from Paddlers for Life Windermere pull into the canal basin at Tewitfield after paddling a dragon boat in relay teams.
This amazing feat was the result of great planning and organisation by Barbara, Louisa and Liam, and the fantastic effort of members who drummed, paddled and helmed the boat and the many people who gave support through public engagement at stages along the way and event support along the towpath and staging points.

A mixed team of cancer survivors and supporters rest after completing the first leg of the Lancaster Canal paddle from Bilsborrow to Galgate.
This truly was a team event with many members giving enthusiastic help to this unique dragon boat challenge.
