Paddling Fundraiser with Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy

A great fundraising effort.

A huge thank you to Jane and the staff from Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy, Leyland

On Saturday 15 June 2019, 22 members of staff from Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy, Leyland came along to experience the joy of dragon boat paddling.

Under the expert tuition of Jane and Peter Cogley and Roz, they were instructed in paddling technique and safety procedures.

Louisa gave an inspired and heartfelt talk about the history and ethos of Paddlers for Life.

Both boats went out in rather blustery conditions. Our visitors were quick learners and once they’d had some paddling practice, went into race mode. It was fantastic fun, enjoyed by all! The winning team received one of our little paddles.

Everyone was given a pin badge, wrist band and a leaflet. The staff raised a very generous donation of £420.00!! Jane says they hope to do it again next year. Many thanks to Jane for organising the event.

Thanks to all the staff who participated so enthusiastically (and finding time in such a busy term for teachers). Thanks to the members of Paddlers for Life who joined in.
