Resuming paddling in 2021

Plans for paddling in 2021.

Paddlers for Life Windermere have plans in place to resume paddling on Sunday May 23rd. if the road map for pandemic measures continues with the current timetable.

We are letting any signed-up member go in the boat (new or experienced) but no visitors at the moment. Hopefully we will be able to accept visitors later in the season if pandemic measures continue to ease. Paddlers will need to book a boat place for a particular session time e.g. for 10am, 11.30am or 1.30pm. These session times may change subject to smoother boat transitions and demand for paddling spaces.

At first each boat will have eight socially distanced paddlers and a helm, no drummer. The sessions are going to be shorter with each boat going out for 40 minutes then picking up the next booked in crew. To keep ‘bubbles’ separate there will be alternating paddling sessions with the other boat doing the same.

This will allow for  24 paddlers over 3 sessions or 32 in 4 sessions or whatever is needed. These arrangements will be reviewed after Sunday 23rd May to see if arrangements can be improved.
