Survivorship Conference and Dragon Bay Regatta
A very busy weekend for Paddlers for Life UK hosting a cancer survivorship conference on Saturday 12th. September and then the 2nd Dragonbay Regatta on Sunday 13th. September.
Around twenty cancer survivors and forty health professionals listened to a range of speakers over the day whilst also having the time to share experiences with each other.
This event was followed by a conference dinner with another speaker and further networking time.
Sunday revealed a wonderfully calm and dry Windermere which defied the ealrlier predictions of the weather forecast. With the help of Paddlers for Life Windermere and volunteers and helpers from the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Low Wood Watersports Centre and Low Wood Hotels the Low Wood watersports centre was transformed into a dragon boat regatta venue with sixteen teams from local businesses and orgnaisations as well as cancer survivors and supporters from Manchester, Dundee, Edinburgh, Cumbria and Lancashire participating.
