Silverdale fundraising support.

Silverdale community’s generosity.

Normally, on this last Saturday in January, Paddlers for Life members would be meeting in Silverdale’s Gaskell Hall for what has become an annual fund raiser for the team.

The first coffee morning was in 2011.

Silverdale’s Coffee Mornings are a community social event and the local community have come out for many years to give great support to the Paddlers for Life team.

Whether it is enjoying refreshments, playing the tombola and buying tickets for a fantastic selection of raffle prizes or enjoying purchases from our plant stall, cake stall, ‘Good as new’ or Bric-a-brac, the local residents have been generous in raising funds for our charity with many community members also helping out at the event.

Unfortunately there can be no Coffee morning this year in 2021 due to pandemic measures which do not allow group gatherings.

Over the nine years of events, Silverdale ‘s community have helped us raise the fantastic sum of £10, 749.65. They also helped raise an additional £1400 to help our team to visit an international event in Florence in 2018.

So the total sum they have helped us raise  is an amazing £12,149.65p.

We hope that we will be able to return to Gaskell Hall in January 2022 but in the meantime we give them heartfelt thanks for their kindness to the team. We look forward to being able to meet our supporters face to face at some point sooner rather than later.

Our alternative fundraiser this year will be our Hawaiian Challenge to bring an outrigger canoe to Windermere for our team. This is to fulfill a wish of a much loved team member Sue Cogley.
