Our OC6 journey continues.

We met with OCUK representatives.

Our outrigger six canoe (OC6) is of a design called Tahitian Rocket. Outrigger canoes are also known as Va’a (V6) and Wa’a (Waka’ama, W6).

It was a chance to find out the history of our Outrigger canoe and the sport’s origins. We also heard about the cultural origins of activities and traditions around paddling these outriggers canoes that come from the Polynesian Islands.

There is an outrigger canoe cancer survivor event held in Hawaii which we may attend at some point. paddleforlifemaui.org

We have our first training day for the V6 tentatively scheduled for Saturday 31st. July.
