Evening paddle training preparing for Florence.

We had a fantastic paddle last night with a full boat and our goddess Roz at the helm. Apart from a couple of boats and paddle boarders we had the lake to ourselves.
The weather was warm and sunny with a slight breeze and the water level was low.
The crew were made up of survivors and supporters The Florence Crew in race positions with paddlers kindly slotting in where needed to enable race practice.
Roz took us through paddling and race technique, along with distance paddling to improve stamina and strength “taking an inch off the back and reaching forward and putting it on the front.”, “Long and strong.”
We practised 500 metres races starting with the commands pre-race positions, down and ready, attention, go and putting in power 10’s from the front of the boat during the race. We really lifted Artemis Phyllis and our paddling rate was over 5.6 miles an hour.

The smiles tell it all…
